Leigh's Spiritual Garden: Angels Are Important Servants

By Leigh Moran
Angels Are Important But They Are Still Servants of God!

“God speaks of his angels as messengers swift as the wind and as servants made of flaming fire, but of his Son he says, ‘Your Kingdom, O God, will last forever and ever; its commands are always just and right. You love right and hate wrong; so God, even your God, has poured out more gladness upon you than on anyone else.”’ Hebrews 1:7

Angels, Important, Still Servants

About four years ago, my husband and I came upon an accident that had happened near Angola, IN, at Pleasant Lake intersection. A young woman had turned into the path of a truck and, thankfully, no one was hurt. We stopped and I went into the gas station and found the young woman crying and I did my best to comfort her.

*By chance, many months later, I stopped at that gas station in Pleasant Lake and the young woman who had the accident was working there at that time. She recognized me and said, “You are real, I thought you were an angel.”

Many years ago in Oxford, Kansas, where we had just moved, I attended an auction. I heard a woman say she needed the walker the auctioneer just then picked up. As he began to auction it I bid $10.00. No one outbid me, no matter how much the auctioneer tried. Therefore, the walker was mine and I gave it to the older woman.

Since we had just moved, our budget, with three children, was very tight and my husband had not started his new job yet. How foolish of me to buy a walker for $10.00 when I only, really, had $5.00 I could spare.

*As I was leaving the auction a very, very tall man wearing a plain baseball cap and bib overhauls approached me and said,“I know what you did and I want to give you $5.00 toward the purchase of the walker.” We lived in Oxford, Kansas for  five years, I was the newspaper editor, I was President of the Chamber of Commerce, I was President of the Oxford Women’s Association, I ran for city council, I ran for the school board, I had coffee almost every morning, except on weekends, with the old retired farmers and business people of the community and never once did I see this very tall man again.

*I came home after the auction and began to mow our lawn. As I walked along I saw a piece of paper laying on the ground and thought about just running over it with the mower, but did not.As I reached down to pick the paper up I saw it was a $5.00 bill.I have a friend who was a nun and she left the convent back in the 1970’s and eventually married and had two sons. She came to visit me in Kansas and we were traveling on a highway approaching a very dangerous intersection.

As I headed up the hill, a truck pulled out right in front of me. We both started praying and, truly, very truly, the car stopped, without any slamming on of brakes or any forceful movement forward. My young son, Nic, was in the backseat and did not move. We were within inches of hitting that truck.

*Rita and I began to pray out loud, my hands actually came off the steering wheel and I DID NOT APPLY MY BRAKES.

When my son grew older, he had an accident, falling asleep at the wheel. He went off the road down into a very deep ditch. As he awoke, he took his hands off the steering wheel and the car turned and came up out of the ditch and back onto the road. Some of his friends were ahead of him and are true witnesses to this event.

*Nic told me as he awoke; he released his hands from the steering

wheel and did not apply his brakes and he released his foot from the

accelerator.

Now, I depend on the Holy Spirit to guide my decisions and when I do not listen, I do not make the right ones. Therefore, I truly feel that angels and the Holy Spirit are two different creations by God.

God sometimes,  sends His angels to watch over us. The Holy Spirit walks with us all the time, this is what I believe.

As Hebrews tell us, “God speaks of his angels as messengers swift as the wind and as servants made of flaming fire.” (Part of Hebrews 1:7 see above verse)

When I ask you to listen to the Holy Spirit, I am actually asking you to work hard with your mind, your body, and your senses. Because you must free yourself of senseless frivolity and get down and pray over every aspect of your life. This is not an easy task. However, if you persevere, you will attain, sometime in your life, that joy of knowing Jesus, and you will feel the Holy Spirit guiding your life.

Now as you read the above, about my Angelic experiences know that I believe them as true experiences. I also do not go into the area of worshiping angels, and one can do that. There are so many books written about angels today, perhaps one of the best is Billy Graham’s, “Angels.”

I caution you to stay away from the many books that tell you how you can talk to your angels. This, in my opinion is not what God intended for man to do.

God sends the angels, as “swift messengers” when He deems it right and many times I have received God’s gift of protection and glad tidings from His angels.

Go into the world and bring joyous actions to your brothers and sisters, loving, caring, forgiving, sharing, and receiving the same from them. In these hard times we are facing we must each try very hard to be as God wants us to be, perhaps we can be “human angels” to all we meet in their time of need. Then, again, perhaps we just might be the receiver of others’ “humanly angels' actions” when we most need help.

I believe it is God, the Holy Spirit prompting us to listen and “help others,”  so like Judge Judy often says, “Put on your listening ears.”

God bless you and keep you warm in spirit and body.

Love and

I remain His humble servant,
